Retrieving Dropbox Location, Editing and Accessing Dropboxes

Dropbox is a feature of the Pro, Business Plus and Corporate Suite accounts only.

Please note that all other account types not listed above, including the Special Yearly Offer and free Lite account, do not include the Dropbox feature.

To confirm your account type, login and go to My Account - if the current account type displayed is not Pro, Business Plus or Corporate Suite then you will not have a Dropbox link.  See Why is my Dropbox link missing? for more information.

A Dropbox is automatically created and assigned using a unique Dropbox link. Business Plus and Corporate Suite account users can customize the Dropbox name, however this capability is not a feature of the Pro account. If you have a Pro account, you must upgrade your account to be able to rename your Dropbox.

Your Dropbox name may only contain letters, numbers, and hyphens—no spaces or underscores are allowed.

Example Dropbox names:

  • Your name: Ranjith
  • Company name: YouSendIt
  • Your organization's department name: YouSendIt-Public-Relations

Distribute your unique Dropbox link to your customers so that they can upload files to you directly. Your customers can send files to you without creating their own account.

Receiving files in your Dropbox:

You will receive an email notification when a file has been delivered to your Dropbox. The file will be accessible in your YouSendIt Inbox, found on the Send tab after you login.

Distribute/Retrieve your Dropbox name and location to give to a Client:

  1. Go to My Account > Dropbox > Dropbox Name to see your Current Dropbox name and location link.
Note: Pro account users can see their Current Dropbox name, and link, directly on the My Account page.
  2. Right-click the Dropbox link and select Copy Shortcut or Copy Link Location
  3. Paste your Dropbox link into an email to your client, add it to your email signature, put it on a web page, etc.
  4. Click the Dropbox link to visit your Dropbox web page and see what your visitors will see.

Rename your Dropbox (Business Plus and Corporate Suite only):

  1. Go to My Account > Dropbox > Dropbox Name
  2. In the Current Dropbox name field, click [edit].
  3. In the field that appears, specify a new Dropbox name, using only letters, numbers, and hyphens, no spaces.
  4. Click Save button to update your Dropbox name.

Set File Expiration:

  1. Go to My Account > Dropbox > Files
  2. Select the desired file expiration from the list and click the Save button. Files will remain in your Inbox for this amount of time.

  2. Click [edit] to modify your Welcome Message
  3. Click the Submit button to update the Dropbox Welcome Message that your customers will see.
